Since they first entered the market in the 1960s, beanbag furniture has been part of popular culture, offering a unique, modern look. A beanbag chair is simply a large ball filled with Styrofoam beads that sits on the floor. Depending on its size, it may accommodate one or two people, or even more. Large bean bag chairs, sometimes called sack chairs, have become popular recently as a simple and affordable way to create casual seating and update a room’s decor. Like early beanbag chairs, large bean bag chairs are filled with Styrofoam beads, although some are filled with other materials such as polyester foam or strips of polyester fill. Large bean bag chairs may be covered in cotton, twill, leather, microseude, or other materials. Because they are so versatile, large bean bag chairs are generally covered in more elegant fabrics and designs than a typical beanbag chair. Large bean bag chairs are especially popular for casual rooms such as a home theater, a gaming room, or a child’s play room or bedroom.

Size
While the average beanbag is 32 inches in diameter, large bean bag chairs range from six to eight feet across. The most popular size for is the six foot piece. These large bean bag chairs may three or four adults, and, if needed, can be used as an extra bed. When choosing a large bean bag chair, consider whether you need it to relax in front of the TV, provide additional seating for guests, or double as a guest bed. You may also want to consider the shape of the beanbag piece. For example, a pillow-shaped piece provides flexibility because it can fold and change shape, while an oval beanbag provides maximum seating area. If you prefer a large piece that looks more like traditional furniture but has the soft appearance and comfort of a beanbag, some manufacturers make furniture with a more defined shape and more stable structure.
Fabrics
Once you decide on a size and shape, you will choose which fabric and color you prefer for your large beanbag chair. The most common fabrics are twill, microfiber, microsuede and textured or patterned fabrics, such as microfiber with raised polka dots or twill with a subtle stripe. Again, due to the versatility of these pieces, the most popular colors for these chairs are neutral tones, including tan, black, or brown. Brighter colors are also available, however, including blue, red, and purple. If you are worried about how to care for and clean your beanbag, you should consider purchasing a cover for it. These covers are easily removed and washable, allowing you to easily deal with spills or spots and extend the life of your beanbag chair.
Quality
Although large bean bag chairs are an affordable way to increase seating, you should still consider the quality of your purchase. Take into consideration how it is constructed, such as the durability of the fabric, the type of filling, and whether or not the company provides a warranty. If so, be sure that the warranty covers the seams on both the cover and liner.
